In response to the complaints received from the masses of importers and manufacturers that some shipping lines stopped accepting shipments destined for Egyptian ports due to the pre-registration decision of the Customs Authority ACID.

Abdel-Al Ali Abdel-Al, the customs committee Chairmanhead and ex Vice Chairman of EIFFA stated that shipping lines agents attended a meeting yesterday with the customs and the Maritime Transport Sector, and the instructions for implementing the ACID was clear to begin implementation as of next July. Implementation of ACID from April 1st is most probably April Fools.

Khaled Sabry, Vice Chairman of EIFFA urged all the line agents in Egypt, to clarify the situation for the lines abroad in all ports to stop the request for ACID until the actual implementation, starting with the shipments that will be shipped in the ports from July the 1st.

He added that the EIFFA is currently conducting training courses for company employees to explain how to pre-register ACID in coordination with MTS and the Customs Authority.

End of EIFFA statement
