Dear THLG fellow Members,
As you all know, our industry has struggled with the COVID-19-crisis. Now, with grand vaccination strategies all over the world, many activities that were brought to a stop are getting back on track, which means an increase in demand and an overall positive market perspective. This good news comes alongside two main challenges – the feasibility and cost of maritime forwarding, and the feasibility of sustainable projects.
Naturally, we see technology as a means of boosting sustainable business for the future, as well as helping the industry survive the economy-impacting pandemic. In bringing such challenges to the Members’ attention, we hope to foster interaction and cooperation. We know that times are hard, but we also know two heads are better than one. So let’s get together to come up with flexible and creative solutions to turn it around! #PowerInUnity
In fact, we are up to speed when it comes to digitalization. Our ExCom has agreed for a six-month trial THLG app planned for this year yet. We’ve created a team to get around to this task, consisting of Alessio, Andreas, Colin, and me. We are making the arrangements for it to include features like messaging, agenda, contacts, polls and news; this way, we’ll be able to connect with a simple screen tap.
Another exciting online feature we’re launching is THLG’s very first Virtual Breakbulk Exhibition — a solution for the lack of an in-person event, designed so that customers can visit our online booth and get in touch with us both as a Group, and as individual Members. Let’s get ready to heat up the market!
Speaking of which, after a few months of negotiation, we are pleased to announce THLG has signed the contract with Breakbulk Europe 2022 in Rotterdam, guaranteeing very similar conditions to last year’s and an amazing location for our stand, thus contributing to the Group’s best interests.
Furthermore, our 3rd and 4th Online Conferences, held in April 15th and May 18th, were a howling success, notably the 30-minute sessions of Roundtable Discussions for each one of the 12 Project Segments, in which we had Members volunteering as Moderators and leading relevant, engaging talks about existing projects around the world and collaboration opportunities.
We also have a new panel, “Let’s Socialize”. The first edition, Malt Whisky with Emre Eldener, from Kita Logistics, took place on June 15th and was a great opportunity to bond together, which is exactly what we’re looking forward to for the next editions. In July, we’ll meet with Juan Andres Turner, from Rowners S.A., and in August, our host will be Hainite Silva Paramo, from Tradelossa. But here goes a friendly reminder to register in advance, as we have limited seats!
At this time, we would like to stress that if you have any ideas or wish to engage in specific actions that can help, you are all more than welcome to reach out to our ExCom via email: [email protected]
Wishing those of you in the Northern Hemisphere a great summer vacation,
Murilo Caldana
President and Business Development Officer
