Organization of crane services for loading oversized cargo onto trucks and unloading operations at the port yarded, livering shipments alongside the vessel as well as customs clearance – this was the scope of Rohlig SUUS Logistics’ role in transporting large and heavy components of a gas separation installation.
The task involved the transport of several oversized units to the storage yard at the Port of Gdańsk, their delivery to the ship, and full customs handling. The dimensions of the cargo posed a particular challenge – the highest unit reached nearly 6.4 meters, while the heaviest weighed 29 tons. For this reason, a tailor-made project cargo solution was designed and executed to ensure the safe and timely flow of operations.
Specialized unloading and loading operations
The size and weight of the cargo required the use of specialized cranes for all handling operations – for loading the units onto trucks, unloading them at the port storage yard, and finally positioning them under the vessel’s hook using dedicated road equipment, in accordance with FAS (Free Alongside Ship) Incoterms.
The key to success was precise coordination between all involved parties – crane operators, carriers, and port teams – ensuring that each stage of the operation was completed efficiently and safely.
Comprehensive customs handling
As part of the project, comprehensive customs services were also provided by Rohlig SUUS Logistic, supporting the efficient export of goods and ensuring full compliance with port procedures
