As part of a coastal reinforcement project in Batumi (Georgian Black Sea port) Van der Vlist, member of The Heavy Lift Group, transported a 45ton excavator and 631ton of sheet piles. We arranged for some parts of the excavator to be dismantled and packed into a container, reducing overall transport dimensions, and therefore keeping costs to a minimum. Once at the port the base machine was secured to a flat rack. The sheet piles were transported via tilt trailers to the port and packed into over 20 containers. The containers, together with the flat rack, were then shipped to Batumi Port. Throughout this project, from quotation to completion, we have worked closely with our client. This enabled them to choose their preferred method of carriage – custom made logistics!
