Van der Vlist, member of The Heavy Lift Group, recently coordinated the multi modal transport and export packing of a 70 ton ship unloader machine for cement mills. This machine, constructed and assembled in The Netherlands, consisted of a large vessel skid (10,5 x 2,5 x 5,9m) and a separate machine room (10,5 x 3,4 x 3,0m). Several parts were dismantled to reduce the total size. The vessel skid could only be taken out of the construction hall with the suction arm entirely stretched because of the height of the entrance door. Once outside the suction arm had to be manoeuvred into the right transport position creating a total height of 5,9m. Van der Vlist arranged lashing and securing onto the flat rack and protective export packing. Once all packing operations were finished transport up to a local quay was executed for direct transshipment into a barge. This barge took the cargo to Antwerp seaport where it was unloaded for further shipment to Bangladesh.
