Mining excavator from south to north

Van der Vlist member of the Heavy Lift Group recently carried out a multimodal transport of a 50 ton mining excavator from Spain to Germany. Due to the size and weight of the excavator it was decided that a multimodal transport would be the fastest and most efficient method. The excavator (9.50 m long, 3.30 m wide, 4.20 m high and 50 tons) was transported to a local Spanish port for shipment. On arrival at the port in Northern Europe, the excavator was loaded onto a 4-axle excavator bridge trailer with a 5-axle truck, for onward transport to the final destination in Germany. Due to advance preparation and active cooperation of various departments within Van der Vlist the multimodal transport was completed on time and within budget.
