Van der Vlist member of The Heavy Lift Group received an order to deliver some large Komatsu units. Van der Vlist Engineers were tasked with carrying out assembly and modification tasks for this project, but, they also needed to partly disassemble the machines to reduce the dimensions to a suitable level for road transport. In total, there were three machines moved as part of this project. There were two WA800-3 Wheel loaders (13.75 long x 4.60 wide x 5.30 high and a weight of 98 ton), as well as one HD785-7 Rigid Dump truck (10.30 long x 6.00 wide x 5.35 high and 73 ton when fully assembled). The customer had a requirement that the "on site" assembly time be as short as possible. The Van der Vlist solution allowed for various modifications to take place at the Van der Vlist facility in Groot-Ammers, NL. The central automatic lubrication systems were modified and some basic assembly of the machines was carried out. Prior to the machines being partly disassembled, the machines underwent a pre-delivery inspection and testing completed to Komatsu standards. Once the machines were broken into pieces suitable for road transport, they were delivered to their final destinations for final assembly and testing prior to the machines being put to work.
