Van der Vlist were called into action over the last month to bring some lifting frames from Eastern Germany into the UK.
4 large frame sections were each loaded to a semi low trailer for the journey, and secured down. These parts were made up of 4 sections: 8.10m x 4.71m x 3.35m, two of which weighed 13,95 tons and the other two 15,53 tons. The rest were smaller pieces, which were able to be co-loaded with the larger pieces.
Once across into the UK on schedule, these pieces had to travel their permitted route under escort to the quarry site in Leicestershire. Upon arrival on site, the pieces were unloaded next to the 850 ton crusher they are to help move. The crusher will be lifted onto these pieces, and will then be loaded onto a self propelled modular trailer to be itself moved again across the site.
