Reaching into Australia

Van der Vlist member of the Heavy Lift Group Van der Vlist have been operating far away from their offices, in transporting 22 reach stackers over a 3 month project in Australia. 21 of the machines weighed 75 tonnes each and measured 1480cm x 422cm x 478cm, with one slightly larger at 1545cm x 427cm x 478cm and 95 tonnes. Having been shipped in from Holland and Belgium, Van der Vlist arranged the transport to various destinations from the ports of arrival- Fremantle, Adelaide and Melbourne. The reach stackers were previously shipped without the boom, but following extensive route surveys, the boom was able to be left attached, saving costs on both shipping and road transport in the process. The inland transport took between one and two days for each destination, and in many cases involved the lifting of railway cables on route. High value all risk insurance and customs was all pre-arranged to ensure a smooth arrival at each destination.
