RIEDL MOVES

The year 2017 started with a great highlight for the Rolf Riedl GmbH. In 2016 we kept our focus more and more on projects across the pond to the USA and Canada. The award of a project from one of our most important clients for 4 transformer deliveries involved also the foundation setting and accessory deliveries. That was a great success to get this business started in the new year. We took over the units in the Port of Baltimore, transloaded the transformers to our partner Valley Group trailers and delivered them to the substation in Clear Fork, West Virginia. As the substation is located in a rural area with a lot of very narrow winding roads, we were faced with several challenges on the route. The biggest difficulty was the mountain portion of the trip which has numerous up and downs. Thereby the problem was not to go up on the mountains, as expected by us, but coming down a long 9% grade in the most extreme situation, was the real challenge. The great cooperation with our partner Valley Group and their very experienced team, helped us to find the best suitable solution for this particular issue. With the Valley Group we share an excellent long-lasting business-relationship. In order to safely navigate the cargo through the steep mountain terrain we used a second push & pull tractor at the rear of the trailer. The second tractor helped us to push the truck up on the mountains and then to brake the truck coming down on the other side. This kind of operation is normally used to move much bigger items on the road, but at the very special roads to this substation we utilized this techniqueto avoid any problems and unnecessary delays during the transports. Due to our detailed analyses of the equipment requirements on this transport route and the longstanding expertise of the employees, we completed the whole project to the full satisfaction of our client. Meanwhile we are very proud to announce, that we already received the order for the upcoming three transformer deliveries to the same substation. Maybe the greatest feedback a customer can provide.
