Van der Vlist Synergy

Four of Van der Vlist’s business units recently worked together to put together a transport and supply chain for the movement of a Hitachi EX 1900, weighing approximately 300 tonnes, from Hoorn in the Netherlands to Calais in France. The standard weight of this machine is 190 tonnes, but it was modified by its owner (Snijder B.V.) for its purpose of installation of large concrete elements into the port wall at Calais to strengthen and protect the quay. The crane was transported as 13 loads, and the biggest part, the base machine itself, was 475cm wide and 418cm high, weighing 53 tonnes. It was then assembled at the port and was ready to go to work. By working together as a team, the synergy of the Van der Vlist Group was on full display, and thanks to this combined effort the machine is strengthening the port wall at Calais to ensure that it serves for years to come as a safe, secure and developing port which can accommodate the new generation of ferries and ro-ro services.
