According to the Egyptian Customs Authority website An Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) is an internationally recognized quality mark that acknowledges that your business role in the international supply chain is safe and has customs control procedures that meet EU standards.
AEO probably doesn’t mean much to you, but trust us, it’s a huge plus. In short, it is a globally recognized quality mark that ensures you our role within the international supply chain is safe and that all of our customized controls and procedures are effective and compliant.
There is no denying that the AEO certification has become a more desirable and valuable tool to ensure the continued movement of goods.
Why Did We Apply for an AEO?
We came to the decision shortly after news spread about the impact of potential custom clearance delays on global supply chains.
As an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), we have strongly enhanced our profile and competency in terms of customs compliance. We have also proven once again that we are as prepared as possible for what lies ahead in 2021.
For us, the AEO certification benefits our business immensely in terms of commercial payoff and international recognition, but most importantly, it helps our customers through simplified customs procedures.
There are two main benefits to you as a customer.
The Initial benefit, is strict security. Our AEO certification identifies that we follow strict procedures and that the overall security of the supply chain is stronger. As a result, the risks in terms of theft and loss of items during transportation are reduced.
The second benefit is priority clearance. The certification effectively means “fast tracking” through customs clearance. And if the goods are subject to inspection, AEO shipments will be given priority over other goods, making a very strong case for using an AEO-certified carrier, but there’s more. It also means: It is faster and easier to obtain customs simplification.
