THLG member EZ Link Taiwan handled a passenger ship boarding a heavy lift vessel (Crane: SWL 2×400 MT) from Taipei port in Taiwan to Subic in the Philippines in terms of water-to-water, with dimensions/weight shown as below:
33.37 x 10 x 15.45 m, 290 WT
As the EZ Link project team is fully aware that lifting a large/heavy passenger ship (290 WT) from the water onto a heavy lift vessel deck is a complex marine operation, the team boarded the vessel to monitor all procedures in performing seamless marine operations such as:
- weather & sea state: ensuring conditions are within safe limits (wind, swell, visibility)
- 4 divers diving into the water for setting slings to secure the slings evenly and check balance of the underwater hull.
- slings connected to the underwater hull and connecting the shackle on the ship side safely, raising the ship slightly out of the water to confirm balance and load security.
- swing/hoist in carefully moving the load over the deck using controlled crane movement conducted by the vessel port captain staying on a pilot boat at sea surrounding the heavy lift vessel.
- ensuring even weight distribution and proper alignment while the ship is landing on deck.
- stevedores utilizing tag lines to control swing and rotation to lower the ship onto pre-positioned supports or cradle on deck.
- dunnage/lashing on vessel deck: ensuring the ship sits fully and evenly on timber dunnage using balanced and symmetrical securing by lashing straps connected to the vessel’s deck shackle.
Throughout the seamless procedures, EZ Link’s professional team on the vessel deck supervised the lifting of the heavy/big passenger ship cargo from the water onto a heavy lift vessel deck. The clients in Taiwan/Philippines were satisfied with the performance and for providing “Timely and Reliable service” as always.
